Eric Forsyth, Ph.D.

Welcome to My Online Portfolio!

Forsyth1
The culmination of my formal education was earning my Doctorate in Sport Administration from The University of New Mexico in 1995. As a full professor at Bemidji State University, located in beautiful northern Minnesota, my two primary duties are teaching sport management courses and supervising field experiences.
With a passion for interscholastic sports, I regularly publish in trade journals and state association bulletins, and presented at international, national, regional, and  state conferences. Through these endeavors I have had the privilege of working with  several "key players" within the interscholastic sport arena.
Lately, writing textbook chapters has been a great thrill. I just finished two chapters that will appear in a new textbook "Branded: Branding in Sport Business." Currently, I am writing a chapter on interscholastic sports for an update edition of "Contemporary Sport Management."
NASPE / NIAAA has recently appointed me as a panel member for the graduate interscholastic athletic administration curriculum standards. The purpose of this newly formed panel is to provide protocol for academicians seeking to offer national accredited Master's sport administration degrees.
On a personal level, I recently have also been writing stories on my outdoor pursuits especially my bear hunting adventures, which are soon to appear in 'Bear Hunting' and 'Whitetales' magazines. Yet more importantly, when all is said and done, if my wife can say I was a good husband and my kids can say I was a good dad, then I have truly accomplished something worthwhile.

The culmination of my formal education  was earning my PhD in Sport Administration from The University of New Mexico in 1995. As a full professor at Bemidji State University, located in majestic northern Minnesota, my two primary duties are teaching courses in  sport management and supervising field experiences.

With a passion for interscholastic sports, I have published  in both juried and trade journals, presented  at various conferences on the national and international level, and written several text chapters on issues related to high school athletics. Through these endeavors I have had the privilege of working with  several key players  within the interscholastic sport arena.

I am a founding member of the  interscholastic athletic administration graduate curriculum standards endorsed by the National Association for Sport & Physical Education and the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association. My most memorable role was having the distinct pleasure in serving as president of the Minnesota AAHPERD Association.

On  a personal level, I have written stories on my outdoor pursuits  especially my bear hunting adventures, which have appeared in outdoor magazines. In addition, I wrote two company profiles that appear in a sport brand textbook, highlighting their climb to the top in the hunting and fishing industries.

Yet more importantly, when all is said and done, if my wife can say I was a good husband and my kids  can say I was a good dad, then I have truly accomplished something worthwhile.
